A good option to stay for a short layover very close to Oslo airport. The rooms were fresh and clean. The breakfast was tasty and had a supricingly big selection of food. The only negatives were that there were no free parking and the shuttle to the airport cost about 80 NOK. Other than that it was great!

Stayed in this hotel for a couple of nights, and there were pros and cons, to be honest. Pros: Friendly front desk staff. I called a day before arrival, to ensure I got a quiet room. Chatted with a friendly young man, who was happy to oblige. Upon arrival I was greeted with a smile. Quiet room with a comfy bed. I got a spacious room high up, tucked away from other guests. The bed was also really comfy. Newer hotels often have beds that are too soft and not springy, but these were super. I also enjoyed that you could turn off the bathroom heating, and indeed the heating in the room. I hate sleeping in rooms that are too hot, and many hotels only allow you a slight change to the thermostat. That being said, I was there in November, and I can imagine that without AC it might get very hot in the summer. There was a standig fan in the room, that hinted at this. Location. You can scarcely ask for a more convenient location to the centre of Oslo, and close to the central station. This is a major pro. Price. While not exactly dirt cheap, considering Oslo prices it was quite affordable. Payed 3300 NOK for two nights. Cons: Cleanliness. The bed spread hadn’t been washed for ages it seemed, and was full of hairs. There were also hairs in the shower, and the faucet and flushing bottons were smeared in fatty finger marks. The worst was the toilet, however, which had remains of excrement in it. After seeing this I went down to reception. The consierge offered me a different room, but I really wanted to keep the one I had, for the quiet factor, so he kindly went upstais and cleaned it. The room was also terribly dusty. I’m allergic to dust, but I think there was enough of it for anyone to react. Touch the bed and there was a blizzard. You could see the dust building up around the vents, and the bathroom door was covered in so much dust you could draw on it. Breakfast. Pretty poor selection, but I’m fine with that as long as I get some eggs and fruit. However, the fruit, fish, and meats had flies crawling over them both mornings, and there was also a half eaten bun in the bread basket! When I pointed this out to staff there was just a shrug of the shoulders, but they did remove it. I work late, so the second morning I arrived about twenty minutes before breakfast closing, and by then I was queuing behind staff for food and coffee. No smiles or aknowlegements for my smiles and good morning. One staffer was also given a fierce and lengthy telling off for something, right by my table, but it was all in Arabic, so dunno what it was about. It was like the staff utterly ignored my presence. Ended up with quite an upset stomach after each breakfast, but whether that was because of the food I dunno. The second morning, however, this hindered me in making the checkout time. I phoned reception about this, but was met with little sympathy. The next two minutes were quite desperate, as I was quite literally glued to the throne😂 Then they phoned me back and gave me another hour - which I needed! When checking out, however, I was met with a friendly smile. Conslusion. Would I stay there again? Probably. The location, price, and the comfy bed ranks pretty highly with me, but I’ll make sure to bring antihistamins for the dust, and skip breakfast.

I would have given 5..... But

I stayed at the Best Western Plus City Hotel for 2 nights and then a single night a few days later (after returning from Copenhagen). I would have given the Hotel a 5 Rating based on the 2 night stay. However, the single night stay was not so good. I was visiting Oslo for sightseeing and was on my own, so booked a single room. My first room was perfect for what I needed. It was a single, but was roomy enough for me and was clean and had everything I needed (Tea/Coffee making facilities, TV, safe, Free Wifi (which was perfect for what I needed to do... checking places to visit on my phone, listening to podcasts/ radio). The bed was very comfy and was bigger than a standard single bed. The bathroom was again very clean and had a heated floor and a walk in shower. My room (401) overlooked the back of the hotel and was very quiet. However, on my second stay, I had room 601, which was roomy and with a bigger bathroom. Again the room was very clean and equipped with every thing I needed (although there was no safe in this room). The Wifi was not working in this room, which I did highlight to a member of staff (I am not sure if this was a temporary fault or that the Wifi does not reach the 6th Floor...... ). The main issue with this room, was that it overlooked the front of the hotel and you can hear the Trams and other noises from the streets. There is also building work going on opposite the hotel (which they do warn you about) and this was also very noisy in the day (although, I was out most of the day). It took me 5 mins to walk to the central train station and there are tram and metro stops a short walk from the hotel. The main shopping street is about 50m from the front door and there are a number of bars and places to eat within a short walk. I walked to the DFDS Ferry Terminal in 20mins. Breakfast was nice, with a selection of hot and cold items, including Bacon, Sausage, Scrambled egg, Beans etc (buffet Style). Staff were friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay at the Best Western again, if I visit Oslo, as it is very central to the transport links and has everything I needed. However, I would ask for a room which does not overlook the front of the hotel.

Room cleaned only every 3 days!

Unfortunately I got a bad experience staying at this hotel during my time at OSL. On the second day of my stay I noticed that for two days my room had not been done, I approached the check in and asked why it had not been done and I was told that they only do the rooms every 3 days (I stayed 4 nights) for environmental reasons, I am fine with that but please mention it clearly somewhere so we have a choice to accept or not!

Pros: 1. The desk clerk waited 45 minutes past the check-in time as my flight was delayed and I needed the clerks help on two separate occasions to open my room door. 2. Breakfast was very good and the location is excellent. 3. There are Rituals bath products available. Cons: 1. My room door was terribly difficult to open- it required a lot of force and maneuvering. 2. Room was small and furniture was oversized for such a compact space making it tricky to move around without hitting my knee. 3. There was no sign available in the room for privacy/cleaning. Had to request one right away. 4. Nobody at the check out desk at 7.30am and had to leave a post it note so I didn’t miss my train and subsequent flight 5. Worst of all, room was not properly cleaned (despite using the newly obtained sign) -it was obvious that the floors were not swept/vacuumed , the top of the chest of drawers were dusty and on the last night of my stay, when I returned, the room door was not closed properly (after the cleaning) and essentially very easy to open. As a solo female traveler, this was disturbing to see. Overall a bit of a disappointment!
